A Great Place to Land, Live and LEARN.
It began with the people who settled here with unending curiosity and an openness to explore.
Today, Portland-Vancouver USA's north side is proud of its ever-improving educational system. We have great schools, great staff, dedicated volunteers and strong community support. That leads to a talented workforce determined to enjoy a great career and a great quality of life.
Robust pre-K programs give young minds a fast start at 26 locations. About 78,000 students thrive in nine K-12 public schools supported by ESD 112. Another 3,000 attend private schools. About 1,800 students get a Running Start on college while in high school.
Our schools offer programs that enhance natural talents and abilities. We offer specialized schools in arts and academics, skills, STEM, biosciences and International Baccalaureate, along with online learning and independent study programs. We pair students with practicing business executives through nConnect. We house state schools for the blind and deaf.
More than 175,000 students attend colleges and universities within 100 miles of the metro area. They attend nearby Washington State University Vancouver (3,000) or take the next step at Clark College (16,000), both which have significant growth plans. Plus, students have access to many career training programs, including cosmetology, wind, rail, airlines, and emergency services.
